“Aksi ‘topless’ tidak masuk dalam daftar penilaian Miss Universe 2010. Itu mungkin dilakukan para finalis lain yang ingin mencari sensasi,” tutur Mega Angkasa, Kamis (12/8).

Ajang Miss Universe 2010 mulai dihelat 7-23 Agustus di Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino di Las Vegas, Amerika Serikat.

Kegagalan kembali Miss Indonesia Universe 2010

Perhelatan Miss Universe kemarin telah usai di acara puncak, dan winnernya dari Miss Mexico yaitu Jimenna Navarrete. Malang kembali nasib Miss Indonesia Qory Sandioriva karena tidak bisa menembus top 15 Miss Universe 2010. Berita sebelumnya mengabarkan bahwa Qory Sandioriva atau nama panggilan akrabnya Qory, tidak bisa berbahasa English. Hal itu menyebabkan Qory tak tembus top 15, dan juga Qory tak berbusana Two Piece dalam kontes busana swimsuit.

Indonesia gagal menembus top 15 sejak 2006. Padahal dulu saat tahun 2005 yang pada saat itu perwakilan Indonesia yaitu Artika Sari Devi dapat menembus top 15 Miss Universe, tapi Artika gagal menembus top 10 karena Artika tak mempunyai tinggi yang maksimal dan gaun malam yang digunakannya sangat tidak cocok sekali.

Puteri Indonesia 2009 Qory Sandioriva membuat keputusan yang mungkin sangat mencengangkan dan patut mendapat pujian. Disaat peserta lain rela untuk difoto telanjang dada, Finalis Miss Universe, Qory Sandioriva menolak untuk foto topless. Aksi ‘ foto topless’ tidak termasuk dalam penilaian Miss Universe 2010, oleh karena itu Qory Sandioriva bertekad menolak.

Ajang Miss Universe 2010 akan digelar 23 Agustus 2010 dan diadakan di Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada, Amerika Serikat. Saat ini, perwakilan Indonesia, Puteri Indonesia 2009 Qory Sandioriva kini sudah masuk daftar 10 besar kontestan yang difavoritkan menang Miss Universe.

Qory dan 82 kontestan lainnya sudah ada di Las Vegas, Amerika Serikat, sejak 11 Agustus 2010. Sejumlah kegiatan, seperti sesi pemotretan dilakoni oleh para finalis.

Dari hasil polling yng diadakan MissUniverse.com, sementara Qory Sandioriva ada di urutan ke-9 peserta favorit.

Namun begitu, dalam sesi pemotretan Qory Sandioriva sempat mengenakan pakaian swimsuit.

“Itu menjadi persyaratan administrasi, karena kalau finalis tidak mengikuti akan didiskualifikasi. Hanya sebenarnya, sesi tersebut tidak memberikan kontribusi penilaian yang sangat besar. Banyak aktivitas penting yang harus dilalui para finalis untuk bisa mendapatkan nilai terbaik di mata juri,” ujar Mega Angkasa, Head of Communication Department Yayasan Puteri Indonesia.

Disisi lain, sebagai seorang muslim Qory Sandioriva tetap berpuasa selama menjalani karantina.

Pagelaran Miss Universe 2010 dilaksanakan 7-23 Agustus di Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino di Las Vegas, Amerika Serikat. Pada malam puncak pemilihan Miss Universe 2010, Miss Universe 2009 Stefania Fernandez dari Venezuela akan memahkotai sang pemenang yang berhasil menyisihkan finalis yang tahun ini diikuti 83 peserta.

Miss United States of America Alexandria Mills was crowned Miss World in China’s island province Hainan on Saturday evening, beating more than 100 other contestants in the competition which goes by the motto “beauty with a purpose.” Participants in the final round were from China, USA, Botswana, Venezuela and Ireland.

The Miss World contestants spent a month in China, travelling to both Beijing and Shanghai before reaching Sanya on the southern Chinese island of Hainan.

"I've never met a stranger and enjoy meeting new people," she says in the bio.

It was the fifth time in eight years that the beauty contest was held on the popular holiday island. The final marked 60 years since the first Miss World competition was first held in 1951.

SANYA, China – Blonde, blue-eyed American teenager Alexandria Mills won the Miss World crown for 2010 on Saturday, defeating more than 100 other hopefuls at a glittering ceremony in southern China.

Mills, an 18-year-old from the southern US state of Kentucky, wept as outgoing Miss World Kaiane Aldorino of Gibraltar placed the tiara on her head and led her to a diamond-shaped throne marking the pageant's 60th anniversary.

The 1.75-metre (5'9") beauty in white -- a professional model listed with the Elite Models agency -- waved to the cheering crowd at the 2,000-capacity Beauty Crown Theatre in the resort town of Sanya on Hainan island.

During the two-hour competition, which annually draws a global television audience of about one billion, Mills said her month spent touring China with the other 114 Miss World hopefuls had made a "big impact" on her life.

Botswana's Emma Wareus was second, and Venezuela's Adriana Vasini placed third in the pageant, which was first held in 1951.

The pageant got off to a colourful start with a performance by dancers and drummers from China's Li ethnic minority group, who mainly live on Hainan island, which was hosting the event for the fifth time in eight years.
